According to Zaheer Khan, Shreyas Iyer missed a golden chance in the second innings. He said that the batsman was too aggressive and lost his wicket cheaply. He shared his views on Colors Cineplex.Zaheer Khan also said that the team selection will depend on the results of the first two games. He thinks that Shreyas Iyer will face a tough competition to get into the XI, as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are likely to return.The ex-Indian bowler said that Shubman Gill has an edge over Shreyas Iyer in the selection. He explained,The selectors will meet again and pick the team after these two Test matches. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul may come back. So if two players come in, two players will have to leave the playing XI because they are players who will directly take their spots in the XI.So if you don’t make runs or don’t prove that you are fully prepared, that you can handle any situation, show wisdom, and help the team, then Gill is clearly ahead in the race and you can say that Shreyas wasted a chance. Iyer did not perform well in both Test match against England, in absense of some key players he had a great chance to showcase his batting prowess but he miss this chance ..
