News on January 28th: Today, the Lakers narrowly defeated the Warriors 145-144 in double overtime, securing a two-game winning streak. After the game, Lakers forward Anthony Davis was interviewed.
Regarding Warriors guard Stephen Curry's last-second layup to tie the game in regulation and his crucial three-pointer in the second overtime, Davis said, "He is an outstanding player, and he can make good plays. We were leading, and I just tried to avoid fouling. I usually try to disrupt those shots, but who knows what the referees think, or if I hit him on the head or something. I just didn't want to give him an extra point; I knew he would probably make the free throw. So, I accepted the 2 points, and then tried to score on the other end."
"Then there was that three-pointer, and I had good defense. In fact, I think my disruption helped these guys make shots, it made their shot trajectory a bit higher. He's a Hall of Famer, the greatest shooter in history, and when he has the ball, you always need to stay highly alert. It's the same even when he doesn't have the ball. It was a game full of fun."
In this game, Davis played for 44 minutes, made 11 out of 24 field goals, and scored 29 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks. |
