Toncoin(TON)has recently surged rapidly, with prices breaking through $7.60 earlier. This surge is closely linked to the interest expressed by Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, in conducting an initial public offering (IPO) in the US, pushing TON tokens to record highs. With the price rise, TON's market capitalization is approaching that of the meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE).
Telegram poised to turn profitable within two years
Telegram introduced corporate account features in mid-March and hinted at considering an IPO in the US, sparking positive expectations for TON in the market. In an interview with the Financial Times, Durov stated that since launching advertising and subscription services two years ago, the company has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, bringing Telegram close to profitability.
He expressed confidence, saying, "Even if it's not this year, we hope to be profitable next year."
Additionally, Telegram has received valuations of over $30 billion from several potential investors, with its monthly active users growing from 500 million in early 2021 to 900 million now, making it one of the most popular social apps globally.
"We started monetization primarily to maintain independence. Generally speaking, we see the IPO as a way to democratize the value of Telegram," Durov added. |
