With the uncertain rains hampering the games in this Asia Cup, why can’t stadiums have a roof to protect the field and pitch from rain and keep the match going?

Cricket is an outdoor sport which depends a lot on the weather. Certain weather profits the batters and certain weather profits the bowlers. Weather is of high importance, especially in test matches. Even to protect from the rains, if we build a roof over the stadium, it will interfere with the traditional way of playing the game.

The stadium roof is extremely costly and cannot be supported by smaller cricket boards that don't have enough funds to their name. This is unfair to them and they will be left behind. This is why having a roof over stadiums is not feasible.

A stadium roof will only be possible up to a certain height. And the sixes can go to heights more than the roof. If the ball touches the roof, it is considered a dead ball… which will be unfair to the batsman. This is why installing roofs on stadiums is not a smart idea.
