As it is raining right now in Sri Lanka which is affecting a lot of games in the Asia Cup 2023, what are some cricket rules mentioned if rains come into play?

The most important rule in cricket matches during rain is the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method. This mathematical formula is used to adjust the target score for the team batting second in limited-overs matches when rain interruptions disrupt play. It measures the number of overs bowled and the resources available to each team, such as wickets in hand and runs scored. The aim is to set a fair target for the chasing team.

There are several rules related to rain during matches. Some of the rules include the DLS method in which the runs and overs are reduced for the chasing team. Another rule is the provision of “reserve days” for important matches like that of knockouts in the ICC tournaments.

Cricket has some rules if it rains during the match day. Although the venues are selected in places where it is unlikely to rain… if it still rains, rules like DLS, reserve days, covering the pitch, and even super-over are mentioned. Rules like these make sure that the match has a winner.
