Shikhar Dhawan has been an excellent player from India, especially in ICC tournaments. But in the recent past, his performance has declined. He is now out of the Indian Cricket Team. What are some reasons for his low performance?

Shikhar Dhawan was only playing one day cricket for India for a long time. And since the rise of new players like Kishan, GIll, Gaikwad, Jaiswal, Easwaran, his chances in the one-day series were low. Due to this additional pressure of securing his place in the team, his performance might have hindered and resulted in continuous low scores.

Shikhar has a low strike rate compared to other top order players. That’s why he was removed from the t20 side also. This may be the reason he started playing with a higher strike rate and therefore, higher risk… and gave his wicket to the opposition. The additional pressure was the reason for his low performance in recent times.

I believe Shikhar is having a low patch in his cricketing career just like any other cricketer has. He would have recovered from it and started to play with his full potential. But as he was playing only in one format… this added more mental pressure and hence his performance declined.
