By then, she had already given her boyfriend over RM 50,000. This self-proclaimed savior claimed to have entered the human trafficking camp village to gather information about her brother. He even claimed to have clashed with locals, with one person allegedly injuring him with a knife. Amidst the chaos, the boyfriend jumped into a river to escape, losing a waist pouch (containing the cash Miss Tan gave him), his personal passport, and other documents. He attributed his safe return to Malaysia to the assistance of the Malaysian embassy in Myanmar.

Due to the boyfriend's return without any results and the increasingly perplexing storyline, Miss Tan finally grew suspicious. When the boyfriend's relatives cleaned up the house, they found the so-called lost waist pouch and passport, exposing his lies. Miss Tan confronted her boyfriend for deceiving her using her brother's predicament, resulting in her angrily kicking him out. However, this audacious man returned twice to create chaos, threaten her, and even vandalize her car mirror. Fearing for her safety, Miss Tan reported the incidents to the police.
