The team led by Ajit Agarkar is getting ready to announce the players who will represent India in the upcoming series against Australia. Shreyas Iyer, who recently returned after a long break due to a back surgery, played in some earlier matches but had to drop out of the game against Pakistan because of back pain. It's not clear if he'll be fit for the last Super 4 game against Bangladesh on Friday.

People who know about these things say that Shreyas Iyer's back might be a bit stiff, which could affect how he moves on the field, but they're hopeful it won't be too serious.

The selection committee is likely to reveal the squad for the Australia series this week, maybe on the day of the Bangladesh game or before the Asia Cup final on Sunday.

Even though the preliminary World Cup squad has been chosen, the team management is concerned about Iyer's fitness. If he misses the Australia series, he won't have much practice before the first match against Australia on October 8.

KL Rahul has eased worries about his fitness with his performances in the Super 4 games. Ishan Kishan has been primarily an outfielder, and it's yet to be seen if Iyer, when fit, replaces Kishan in the final Super 4 game against Bangladesh.

Kishan has had a good run in recent ODIs, but he struggled on slow pitches. However, it's worth noting that not many batsmen, except for skipper Rohit Sharma and Rahul, looked comfortable against the left-arm spin of Dunith Wellalage. Sanju Samson, the reserve player who traveled with the team, has gone back home, and Tilak Verma is supposed to join the Asian Games camp after the tournament ends.

In a worst-case scenario where Iyer can't recover in time, Tilak, being a left-handed player, might get a chance over the more experienced Sanju. But with two weeks left before the final squad announcement on September 27, everyone in Indian cricket will be hoping for the best
