In a recent set of new regulations from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR), the Melbourne Crown Casino has been mandated to introduce mandatory card games, restrict player time, and set spending limits on all gaming machines by December. As part of the key anti-money laundering measures, the VCGLR is enforcing stringent rules on individual card games to ensure all Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs) are linked to the patron's identity. Additionally, all patrons must set time and spending limits before using the YourPlay system in the state, unlike other venues where YourPlay remains voluntary. Melbourne Crown Casino patrons will be automatically prevented from further play upon reaching predetermined spending limits.
However, the VCGLR also welcomes Melbourne Crown's efforts to voluntarily adopt harm minimization and anti-money laundering measures, as suggested by the Royal Commission. These measures have been incorporated into the regulator's directives, guaranteeing that Melbourne Crown removes all 'uncontrolled' gaming machines from general gaming areas. This includes uncontrolled spin rates, bet limits, autoplay, and uncontrolled bill acceptors. These machines will be restricted to high-roller areas, with continuous play functions removed. Players will need to manually press the button for each spin, with a maximum of $1,000 AUD that can be inserted into the machines at any given time." |
