If you have observed, ICC does not allow red balls to be played in ODI or T20 games and instead offers white balls in these games. Why is it so?

It has a lot to do with the lighting. A white ball endures better visibility while playing under flood light, which the red ball does not have. Hence, ODI and T20s have white balls in place over red.

There is a significant difference between the white and red balls, right from visibility factors under artificial lights to the swing moments caused. Experts feel the extra polished white balls incur more swing than the conventional red balls. Hence, it adds to the intensity of the shorter formats.

It is because of playing under lights, which causes red balls to blur and cause visibility problems more often. Hence, it is not preferred for playing in shorter formats.
