In an international football friendly match, Germany defeated France 2-1 at home, finally securing their first victory in the last six games.
In the previous friendly match, Germany suffered a disappointing 1-4 defeat at home to Japan, leading to the dismissal of their head coach. In this match, interim coach Woller took charge.
Early in the first half, shortly after the game began, Henryks provided a beautiful cross to Müller, who skillfully controlled the ball and unleashed a shot into the net. Kimmich was forced to leave the field due to injury, and Griezmann created a threat with a header. After regaining possession, Germany's Havertz delivered a through ball to Sané, who scored. In the dying moments of the match, Griezmann scored from the penalty spot to pull one back for France, but Germany held on to win 2-1.
In this game, the soon-to-be 34-year-old Müller scored a goal, bringing his total to 45 goals for the national team, tying him with Rummenigge in sixth place. He is just four goals away from third-placed Podolski. After the match, Müller said, "Tonight, we executed our tactics well on the field. Everyone worked hard, and we got the reward at the right moments. Germany still has a long way to go, but right now, it feels like a weight has been lifted off us."
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen commented, "The victory in this match is soothing for the soul. Whether it's the fans or us, everyone can see that we're pushing ourselves forward and ending with victory. That's great. Woller tried to bring a good mood to us during the game, and defeating France has given us confidence." |
