When you first join a poker table, it's a good idea to observe your fellow players and try to understand each person's playing style and strategy. After the game begins, you can make decisions based on the strength of your hand:

1. **Big Pair with Another Big Card**: Bet and raise. If someone raises again, consider re-raising if you believe your hand is strong enough; otherwise, call.

2. **Big Pair with a Low Card**: Check unless many players remain in the hand or there's frequent raising. If you're the first or last to act, and you anticipate most others will check, you can bet or even raise.

3. **Medium Pair or Small Pair**: Watch and call. Unless you can improve to a bigger pair or have other factors to consider.

4. **Two Pairs**: Bet and raise. If someone raises again, consider re-raising if you have a strong two-pair; otherwise, call.

5. **Pair on the Board**: If you have a small pair or there's been a lot of raising, consider folding. If you're in a late position and most players have checked, you can bet.

6. **Three of a Kind (Pocket Pair)**: Raise or re-raise unless there are other factors to consider.

7. **Three of a Kind (Board Pair)**: Raise or re-raise. If someone raises again, you can consider calling unless you have a big pocket pair.

8. **Mid-Level Straight**: Bet or call if the pot odds are in your favor, or if you have two higher cards than what's on the board, or if there are multiple possibilities to improve your hand. Fold if there are already pairs on the board or three cards of the same suit.

9. **One-Side Open-Ended Straight**: If you're waiting for a 10, you can bet or raise. If there are already pairs on the board or two cards of the same suit, you should check.

10. **Flush Draw**: If you have an Ace in your hand, bet or raise; otherwise, call.

11. **Straight**: Raise or re-raise. If you have an Ace-high straight, don't push too hard to avoid scaring everyone away.

12. **Flush**: Raise or re-raise, especially if you have a high flush.

13. **Full House**: If your three-of-a-kind is a high-ranking hand, proceed cautiously. If it's a low-ranking hand or you don't have a pair in your hand, you can bet or raise.

14. **Four of a Kind or a Straight Flush**: Be cautious, especially if your hand is strong. Otherwise, bet and raise.

It is advisable to approach it rationally; otherwise, it may backfire.
