"Today, let's talk about how gambling can be an extremely risky behavior, and if not controlled, it can easily lead someone down the path of becoming a compulsive gambler. Moreover, it can bring financial losses. Yesterday, I met a friend, and honestly, I found it quite surprising because I'm in Cambodia, where I ran into him. I greeted him and asked, ""Why are you here?"" He then told me it was because of his gambling addiction, which he couldn't control. Now, his life has turned into a sad story.

My friend, Raj, was once deeply addicted to gambling. He spent a significant amount of time and money on gambling and even skipped work. It all started because he had a streak of beginner's luck and won some money. However, it was the feeling of winning that got him hooked. Soon, he lost all his savings. To continue gambling, he began borrowing money from friends, family, and colleagues. Initially, he borrowed small sums, but as time went on, his gambling debt kept accumulating and exceeded what he could handle.

Eventually, Raj started facing debt collectors, and his life spiraled out of control. He was forced to quit his job and lost his home and friends. He once had a happy marriage, but gambling created conflicts between him and his wife, ultimately leading to divorce. Raj eventually realized his mistakes, but it was too late. He not only lost all his money but also the people and things he cherished. He sought help and gradually broke free from gambling, but his life had been irreparably affected.

Raj's story serves as a reminder of how dangerous gambling can be, causing immeasurable losses and potentially ruining someone's entire life. If one lacks self-control, it's better to stay away from gambling entirely. Help as much as you can when someone is in need. I've also given Raj a job at our shop, hoping he can quickly repay his debts and turn over a new leaf. They say ""a little gambling for enjoyment,"" but we should remember that it's not always the case."

Is small gambling truly a source of relaxation? How many compulsive gamblers didn't start with small bets?

The sadness in gambling always stems from losing money.

Some people lack self-control and can't handle failure. When they lose, they want to win it back immediately, leading to larger bets and even bigger losses. They end up borrowing money for gambling, and when they can't borrow more, they disappear, making it extremely challenging to recover.

Having friends is already a positive aspect for a compulsive gambler.

"Everything, in itself, isn't inherently good or bad. It depends on how one handles it.
My perspective may seem extreme, as it has always been 'victors are kings.' If you succeed, it seems like the means don't matter that much.
'Not gambling is a victory' feels like it's only half right. Not gambling can be described as not losing, but it's not exactly winning."
