Players like Mudrick, who cost £100 million but did not score a single goal, were a clear disappointment. Chelsea's biggest issue in this season's transfers was overpaying for players. Excessive transfer fees can put undue pressure on players, as not everyone can handle the burden of such high price tags.

Beresford, as the new owner, must also take responsibility for his poor management decisions. In an attempt to distance himself from his predecessor, Beresford made sweeping changes to the entire support staff, especially the medical team. However, replacing the entire medical team was not an ideal solution, as there is a level of trust between players and medical staff that takes time to develop. However, Chelsea's next head coach has been confirmed as Pochettino, an excellent coach who led Tottenham to success. It remains to be seen if he can lead Chelsea out of this mess.
