Using your drawing hands aggressively for semi-bluffing is an effective strategy in Texas Hold'em. If you want to excel at pocket Texas Hold'em, you need to bluff effectively. However, ineffective bluffing is one of the quickest ways to lose chips. So, how do you control your bluffing frequency?

The most effective way to bluff is to let your hole cards determine whether you bluff. In other words, use your drawing hands for semi-bluffing in later rounds, such as a straight draw, a flush draw, or even just one or two high cards. Even if your bluff gets called, these drawing hands can ensure you still have a decent chance of winning.

These cards are called semi-bluff because their potential lies not only in bluffing (but also in hitting your hand as the community cards are revealed). When you're just starting to learn this Texas Hold'em skill, it's not advisable to bluff all the way to the river with completely air cards (except for one situation I'll mention in the 7th point).

Fast-play your strong hands to build the pot and extract more value. A regrettable scenario is when a player with a nuts flush draw on the flop checks behind their opponents on three streets, and when the river comes and the opponent checks, they're left bewildered. Some players get scared of scaring their opponents away with a strong hand and choose to slow-play, which is a common mistake they often make.

In most cases, it's better to use strong hands to bet and build a big pot while protecting your equity. However, this doesn't mean you should always bet/raise your strong hands post-flop. You can consider checking your strong hands when:

1. You're unlikely to be outdrawn by your opponents.
2. There are not many scary cards that can prevent you from betting for value on later streets.
3. Your opponent's likely hand range contains mostly hands with little showdown value (inducing bluffs).

But when you're not too sure, you can bet (or check-raise if you're not the pre-flop aggressor). You might be disappointed when your opponents fold, but it's better than getting drawn out on or missing out on potential value.
