Despite missing the first half of the tournament, Travis Head has been kept in the lineup. Australia will play the opening round of the World Cup with an injured Travis Head, but they have given themselves additional batting protection by selecting Marnus Labuschagne over Ashton Agar, who is out with a calf injury.

Head, who fractured his hand against South Africa, is among the final 15 players on the roster but will miss the first half of the competition.

He is expected to be healthy enough to participate later in the round-robin stage, and his importance to Australia's chances has led them to initially field just 14 players.

Travis Head is an exceptional player. His stats are great. It is risky for Australia to initially field just 14 players in hope that Head will join them in second half of the competition but it is totally worth it.

Ispite of the travis head injury Australia coach and their staff is in trouble from after his injuries for the opening pair to gave startup up gear for aus but the middle order easily can handle like marnus and Smith I think Travis head out of the squad in the upcoming world cup game, and  Mitchell marsh will be a good option for the Australian opening pair with david Warner .
