Glenn Maxwell’s absence has made life tough for Australia all these years. The drought of winning finally came to a close when they beat India in the final ODI of the 3-match series when Glenn Maxwell played an excellent hand in batting and picked up 4 crucial wickets. Was Maxwell the difference between the Aussies winning the World Cup and losing? Let us find out.

Glenn Maxwell is a handy allrounder, who can play blitzkrieg innings as well as pick up wickets whenever his team needs them. He was out on paternity leave and on his return, he made it a point to leave an impact that would clinch the first ODI win for Aussies after losing 5 ODIs on a roll. Thus, Maxwell’s absence was indeed the difference between the team winning and losing.

No. Aussies lost not because of Maxwell’s presence, but because they were complacent. I don’t think there is any way that Maxwell would be the X-factor guy for Australia in the CWC 2023.

Indeed it felt the same. The sudden surge of confidence once Maxwell came to the team and the clinical performance was certainly not a coincidence. Even though the bowling still is missing Ashton Agar and Mitchell Starc, I feel the Aussies got their man in the form of Glenn Maxwell for CWC 2023.
