"The New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (DB) is currently considering revoking the license of SkyCity Casino. This action is related to a complaint from a former customer who alleges that SkyCity Auckland Casino did not comply with responsible gambling regulations. According to reports, the former customer filed a complaint with the DB in February of this year, claiming that the casino did not properly follow up on their continuous play (DB) during the period of 2017-2021 at SkyCity Auckland.
The complaint has been referred to the Minister of Internal Affairs, who subsequently applied to the DB for consideration of suspending SkyCity Casino's license. SkyCity Corporation has stated that the DB will assess whether to suspend the licenses of its three casinos, SkyCity Auckland, SkyCity Hamilton, and SkyCity Queenstown, for a duration of up to 10 days. SkyCity Adelaide is not included in the considerations. The DB will make a decision after receiving written submissions from all parties and may also convene a hearing. SkyCity Corporation has noted that even if the license is suspended, it will not affect its non-gaming businesses such as hotels and dining establishments.
