Indeed. Wasim and Waqar were so different in terms of the strength they had on the cricket field. This made them even more dangerous and together they have picked. With a massive 559 wickets in 61 tests, Wasim and Waqar stand out for their magical strike rate and wicket-taking ability.

Wasim Akram was a tall, lanky bowler who could hit the deck and swing the balls in both ways. His height gave him a superb bounce that he was accustomed to.
While Waqar Younis was more of a yorker specialist. His inswinging ability and control over the ball made him a nightmare for any batter facing him in the death overs.

I feel Wasim and Waqar were good but not the best as you might think.

While comparing to only 61 tests they have played together, I feel Broad and Anderson who have played a whopping 121 tests together deserve more respect. They have picked 1017 wickets, which is a massive achievement in any generation.

Wasim and Waqar are legends!

People often go for wickets as numbers. What needs to be seen is the strike rate they accumulate together. Imagine picking wickets for every 22.6 runs at 45.6 balls per wicket is a feat that’s yet to be matched by bowlers of any generation. More than longevity, I believe the peak of your career matters the most, which in the case of Wasim and Waqar was at the top.
