Macau's gambling operators will hold a press conference at the Macau SAR Government headquarters to announce the latest developments in the new round of gambling investments.
As reported by Hong Kong's Eastweek, the results of the "7 to 6" competition for new gambling licenses in Macau turned out as expected, with all six casino operators in Macau receiving "temporary permits" to operate casinos for the next 10 years. Malaysia's Genting Group, a new competitor, did not make the cut.
The companies that obtained the new licenses include three American casino operators: Sands China, Wynn Macau, and MGM China. Additionally, three local operators, Galaxy Entertainment, SJM Holdings, and Melco Resorts, all listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, also secured licenses.
Macau's Secretary for Administration and Justice, André Cheong Weng Chon, emphasized the importance of attracting foreign investment as a key scoring criterion and noted that all bidding companies had submitted relevant plans and investment proposals. The Macau government will closely monitor the implementation of the bidding documents.
He further stressed that the temporary evaluation was conducted in accordance with the law and treated all bidders equally. While Genting's subsidiary, Genting Malaysia, ranked seventh among the companies, the specific reasons for Genting's failure to secure a license were not disclosed. |
