Gambling is like hot water, and it's like a treasure in the desert. When you start searching for it, the process is exciting, but as time goes on, and you become exhausted, you start to feel despair.
We can't say that gambling kills people, because gambling is like a thorny rose. If you touch it, it's likely to harm you. But if you stay away from it, does it still have a chance to harm you? So, it's not gambling that harms us; it's we who harm ourselves.
There's an old saying that goes, 'Where there are people, there will be gambling.' No matter what form it takes, wherever people gather, there will be gambling. I believe many of us used to make bets out of defiance when we were young. When we did, we appeared confident because we knew we would win. What is that? That's the mentality of the house and the players when gambling. They know that as long as you keep gambling, the ultimate winner will be them.
You might be thinking, 'You've said so much; why don't you quit gambling?' I know you would ask that question, and the answer is something you already know. Quitting gambling? How easy is that? If quitting gambling were easy, there would be far fewer people gathered here! But this place remains bustling, full of those who can't quit gambling, including myself. |
