I am thinking of starting my own crypto startup. Rather than starting any theme-based Dapp or platform, I am looking to create an exchange.

Setting up your own crypto exchange requires a lot of investments and regulatory approvals. You would make more money by lending into liquidity pools.

There is a solid reason why there are so few exchanges that say a lot about this environment.

If you are in a crypto-friendly country like Vietnam, Bahamas, or the UAE, you need to get a crypto license to operate an exchange. Then you would need to raise some funds to finance your startup because developer fees are extremely high for competent developers. Then you would need a lot of marketing because there are already hundreds of exchanges.

Rather than starting an exchange, you would be more profitable investing in new-age ideas like Optimism and ZKSync which address the needs of the current Web3 world.
