The role of "Captain America" played by Chris Evans has become a classic character in film and television. When it comes to Captain America, many people immediately think of Chris Evans in that role. However, did you know that Chris was almost not cast as Captain America, and it was Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, who played a key role in changing that?

Initially, before Chris accepted the role of Captain America, Marvel Studios offered him a nine-picture deal to portray the character without even requiring him to audition. However, on the very night that Marvel sent over the contract, Chris immediately turned down the invitation. He found the offer very attractive and even considered it the ultimate job offer. However, at that time, he preferred a quieter life where he could finish one movie, take a break, and then move on to the next. He believed that taking on the role of Captain America would disrupt that peaceful routine.

So, he hesitated for no more than a moment before rejecting Marvel's offer, and he joked that he woke up the next day feeling just fine about his decision. Just as he was about to miss out on the role of Captain America, Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man, gave him a call and encouraged him to accept the offer. He told Chris that fame would bring more opportunities to his acting career rather than limitations and advised him not to miss out on this chance.

After giving it more thought, Chris reached an agreement with Marvel, and the studio reduced the contract to six films. This included three "Captain America" movies and three "Avengers" movies. Eventually, they signed the deal, and the rest is history.

Now that Chris's time as Captain America has officially come to an end, he reflects on the experience. While he doesn't regret it, he admits that being locked into a role for ten years was daunting, and the sudden changes in his life due to increased fame brought their own challenges. However, in a recent interview, he smiled and said, "Maybe the thing you're most scared of is exactly what you should do." For him, playing Captain America was one of the most precious treasures in his life.

Not signing a nine-movie series contract is a very normal decision!

It's well known that a single role can bring in enormous wealth, and I wonder how many people would like to achieve overnight fame like that.

In most cases, actors sign contracts for one or two movies initially, and then negotiate for additional movies based on their increased market value. This approach aligns with their interests.
