"Previously, there was news about the French midfield star Paul Pogba facing a suspension for doping. So, what happened to Pogba later? Recently, the official results of Pogba's doping retest have been released, showing that he still tested positive. As a result, Pogba is on the verge of suspension without pay by Juventus and potentially a four-year ban, which could prematurely end his professional career.
Last month, the Italian anti-doping court announced that Pogba had tested positive and was temporarily suspended. Pogba subsequently expressed his disagreement with this judgment, as he had no intention of using performance-enhancing drugs. He argued that the nutritional supplements he recently purchased were from the United States, and the standards for doping in the US differ from those in Italy, so he did not agree with the judgment. However, he also apologized for not informing the club's team doctor about the matter.
One month later, the latest doping test results for Pogba are still positive, which means he is now facing a potential four-year suspension, potentially ending his professional career. Before the penalty takes effect, Pogba can submit a defense file within 7 days and undergo further questioning within the next 2 to 4 weeks. According to reports, Pogba is currently searching his home for evidence that could help his case, with the assistance of friends and lawyers. However, based on previous cases, the chances of Pogba successfully overturning the decision are slim.
Pogba's current club, Juventus, did not show any leniency. After the second test results were released, Juventus officially notified Pogba that his pay would be suspended. According to the collective agreement signed by FIGC, Serie A, and the football association, Pogba's salary will be frozen, and he will now only receive the minimum annual wage of €42,477, with a net monthly income of approximately €2,000.
Paul Pogba, once touted as a midfield maestro, had the potential to become one of the greats of his generation. Unfortunately, injuries and various off-field factors prevented him from fully realizing that potential, making it a rather regrettable situation." |
