Cristiano Ronaldo scores again! In 2013, this might not be big news, but in 2023, it's nothing short of a miracle. At 38, Ronaldo, despite his physical abilities not being what they used to, is still the familiar Ronaldo we know. With another brace that helped Portugal advance in the Euro Cup, Ronaldo has now been directly involved in 46 goals in 42 matches this year. This is something you wouldn't expect from a 38-year-old player. It seems like Ronaldo's retirement is still far away!
In the Euro Cup qualification match against Slovakia, Ronaldo scored twice, helping Portugal eliminate their opponents with a 3-2 victory. With these two goals, Ronaldo has already scored 38 goals this year. If you include assists, he has been directly involved in 46 goals in 2023. His average of over 1 goal per game shows no signs of him being 38 years old. Next year's Euro Cup will mark Ronaldo's sixth appearance in the competition, setting a new record.
Ronaldo's exceptional form and capabilities remain astonishing, while his former club, Manchester United, is still facing problems. Recent discussions have brought up the fact that despite his tremendous ability and form, he was considered a problem and ultimately shown the door, highlighting the disputes with the current manager, Ten Hag.
However, Ronaldo, now playing in Saudi Arabia, seems to have moved on from discussing this issue. Reports suggest that he wants to continue playing with Al Nassr in Riyadh until 2027 and then retire after his last professional match, which will be the 2026 World Cup. If Ronaldo indeed plays until that age, he will be 41 by then, setting another record. Just participating in the World Cup at that age is an honor in itself, regardless of whether they win the title.
