On October 10th, in the NBA preseason, the San Antonio Spurs lost 121-122 to the Thunder on the road. After the game, the Spurs' top pick, Victor Wembanyama, talked about his feelings in his first game.
"I'm really excited, it's like I have a fire inside me, and I can't wait for the game to start," Wembanyama said.
Regarding his performance, Wembanyama said, "Many times, when I take a step towards the inside or prepare to dribble, I can see that 2 to 3 defenders are focusing on me... They give up the man they should be guarding, which helps me find open teammates, and I'll work hard to do that."
Speaking about the team's defense, Wembanyama said, "I'm very optimistic because we have good personnel and discipline, especially in the first half today, our defense was very solid."
Throughout the game, Wembanyama started and played 19 minutes, making 8 of 13 field goals, 2 of 5 three-pointers, and 2 of 3 free throws, scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. |
