"Aptos is a new public blockchain focused on security, scalability, and upgradability. It was founded in 2021 by former members of the Meta (formerly Facebook) team responsible for the Diem (formerly Libra) project. The programming language used is the Move language, which was originally developed for Diem. Move is known for its enhanced security compared to one of the most commonly used development languages, Solidity.
With a team boasting an illustrious background, Aptos has gained the attention of numerous top VCs in the industry, including a16z, Multicoin Capital, Binance Labs, Coinbase Ventures, FTX Ventures, Tiger Global, PayPal Ventures, and more.
On August 1, Aptos released highlights and updates for its incentive testnet 2, with 225 nodes participating in the testing process across 110 cities in 44 countries globally. Aptos also plans to reward participants who meet specific criteria in incentive testnet 2 with token incentives. Aptos incentive testnet 3 will open for registration on August 19 and close on September 9, with the mainnet expected to be launched in the autumn.
To foster the development of the entire ecosystem, Aptos has launched an ecosystem grant program that covers categories such as:
- Developer tools, SDKs, libraries, documentation, guides, and tutorials.
- Tools and frameworks for development, governance, DeFi, NFTs.
- Core protocol contributions, including token standards, libraries, protocol upgrades, and more.
- Open-source and public goods.
- Educational initiatives.
- Applications like DeFi, DAOs, gaming, and more." |
