After the failed Qatari tycoon Jassim's bid to buy Manchester United, many fans were disappointed, believing that the club's decade-long championship drought was mainly due to ownership issues. They wanted a change in ownership but ultimately couldn't secure it. However, is there really no hope left for a Manchester United ownership change?
In fact, there were originally two wealthy individuals interested in acquiring Manchester United. One of them was the aforementioned Jassim, and with his exit, the only potential buyer left is Sir Ratcliffe. Sir Ratcliffe is associated with the Ineos Group and has been eager to become the new owner of Manchester United. Unfortunately, the Glazer family, the current owners of the club, is not willing to sell the club outright, so they are exploring alternative arrangements.
Reportedly, the Glazer family initially had no intention of giving up full ownership and was looking to sell up to 25% of the shares, a condition Jassim did not accept. However, Sir Ratcliffe is willing to accept these terms, making him the most likely new candidate to become one of Manchester United's owners.
Some Manchester United fans might feel disappointed, with the Glazer family still being the majority owners. However, reports suggest that if Sir Ratcliffe acquires a share of Manchester United, an agreement will be reached with the Glazer family, giving him full control over the club's sports-related matters. This would lead to a comprehensive overhaul of the football department, including personnel, management, and the team itself. In essence, Sir Ratcliffe is expected to manage the sporting aspect better than the Glazer family, which has sparked optimism among a portion of Manchester United fans. |
