IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the 2024 Indian Premier League will be held in India despite the tournament coinciding with the general elections next year. IPl would have shifted to UAE if it didn’t happen in India.

The IPL has coincided with the Elections thrice before – in 2009, 2014 and 2019. In 2009, the entire tournament was held in South Africa, making it only one out of two times that the entire edition of the IPL has been held outside India. But it’s good that IPl will happen in India only this time.

In 2014, the first 20 games of the competition were played in the UAE, before being shifted to India in May. Five years later, the IPL hosted the entire tournament in India for the first time despite it clashing with the elections in the country at the same time.

It would be a task to host the IPL during the run of the general elections in the country. However, the chairman and the staff are confident in their ability to host the IPL safely. It’s good for the economy as well as for the fans.
