The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of Macau has released data on various gambling activities for the third quarter of this year. In the third quarter of 2023, the total gambling revenue was 48.964 billion Macau patacas (MOP), a quarterly increase of 7.26%. The revenue from mid-baccarat was 29.769 billion MOP, a quarterly increase of 11.6%, accounting for 60.8% of the total gambling revenue. VIP baccarat revenue was 11.767 billion MOP, a quarterly decrease of 3.2%, making up 24% of the total gambling revenue. The total gambling revenue for the first quarter was 129.4 billion MOP.
The data shows that the gross revenue from slot machines in the third quarter of this year was 2.853 billion MOP, a slight quarterly increase of 7.8%. Texas Hold'em poker recorded 177 million MOP, a quarterly increase of 17.2%. As for sports betting, the gross revenue from football betting was 1.015 billion MOP, a quarterly increase of 1.8%, while basketball betting revenue was 379 million MOP, a quarterly decrease of 22.65%.
Horse racing revenue for the first three quarters was only 162 million MOP. In the entire year of 2022, it was 193 million MOP, decreasing year by year from 504 million MOP in 2018. These figures also reflect that horse racing has not shown significant recovery since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Furthermore, as of the third quarter of this year, there were a total of 60,000 gambling tables and 12,000 slot machines in Macau, with the same number as the previous quarter. Macau has a total of 30 casinos, down from 42 casinos in 2021. |
