It is reported that the social platform Instagram (IG) is planning to integrate with Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Flow NFTs. These blockchain networks are responsible for the majority of collectible transactions, and IG will initiate a pilot program. IG plans to support widely-used cryptocurrency wallets like Metamask. After integrating with cryptocurrency wallets, IG users will be able to prove ownership of NFTs, display them in their profiles, and attribute NFTs to their creators. IG's decision is expected to provide new cultural visibility to NFTs. According to data, IG has over 1 billion monthly active users, which is a huge user base. Many users utilize platforms like IG for promoting and marketing their art.
Earlier this year, in January, the Financial Times reported that Meta's FB and IG might introduce features to display users' NFTs and even allow minting and selling NFTs through their platforms. IG's head, Adam Mosseri, mentioned in December of the previous year that IG was actively exploring NFT features, aiming to lower the barrier to user participation, and stated it as a new avenue to assist creators. However, he mentioned at that time that there were no specific plans to announce. In March of this year, Deutsche Bank released a report indicating that IG's introduction of NFT plans would push NFTs into the mainstream market. This not only lowers the entry barriers for users but also helps alleviate user doubts about purchases through the platform's image. |
