Really tough on you, Van Gaal! The 70-year-old Dutch coach, Louis van Gaal, announced earlier that he's suffering from prostate cancer and has already undergone 25 rounds of chemotherapy. Frankly, even 5 rounds of chemotherapy can be challenging, let alone 25! He mentioned that he has enough ideas to battle the illness and continue coaching the Dutch national team.
Van Gaal is currently the head coach of the Netherlands national team and has previously managed teams like Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United. In an interview, Van Gaal revealed that he can only visit the doctor during the night in between recent training sessions with the Dutch national team. The players were unaware of his health issues. He has received 25 treatments so far. The Netherlands has been drawn into a group with Senegal, Qatar, and Ecuador for the upcoming World Cup, but it's still uncertain if Van Gaal will be able to lead the team in the competition.
However, Van Gaal hasn't expressed any desire to resign. He believes he has enough ideas to battle the disease and insists on remaining as the national team coach because he enjoys working with these players. Van Gaal had recommended Ronald Koeman as his successor to the Dutch Football Association. After Van Gaal revealed his cancer diagnosis, clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona extended their well wishes.
At the age of 70, he should really consider taking a good rest. There's no need to subject himself to such physical hardship, is there? |
