England's football star Sterling was once hailed as a prodigious young talent. Whether at Manchester City or with the England national team, he was a player favored by coaches. However, after joining Chelsea, the former England international faced numerous difficulties, ultimately leading to him losing his spot in the England national team, and he couldn't even make it to the squad.
Sterling's previous exclusion from the England national team was primarily due to his poor performance at Chelsea, drawing widespread criticism. However, as Sterling regained his form, his outstanding performances helped Chelsea overcome their struggles. Consequently, more and more people are calling for Sterling's return to the England national team, believing he deserves a spot.
Surprisingly, Sterling was still omitted from the England national team, even after some players were ruled out due to injuries. England manager Southgate announced three replacements, including Riqui Lewis from Manchester City, Konsa from Aston Villa, and Palmer from Chelsea. Yet, Sterling was still not selected, leading to widespread discontent.
Manchester United and England legend Ferdinand publicly expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, "Bring my brother Sterling out; I don't know what wrong he did. Did he break someone's nose? Is he like this since coming back from the Euros? I don't know what happened, but him not being in the England squad baffles me. I know there are many talents here, but if we're talking about recent form, his goals and assists are at least more than Rashford and Grealish combined."
Sterling has played 14 games for Chelsea this season, contributing 5 goals and 1 assist. This surpasses his competitors in the same position, Grealish and Rashford. Therefore, some express their dissatisfaction, and many hope Sterling will one day return to the England national team's squad. |
