The committee, chaired by Deputy Transport Minister Atirat Ratanasate, has submitted a cost-benefit analysis of the economic, employment, and image impacts of casinos to the country within 90 days. Currently, except for the national lottery and horse racing, other forms of gambling are illegal in Thailand. Casinos have been excluded in the past due to concerns about morality, as well as the difficulty of supervision and taxation. If previous measures have failed, the recent initiative to open casinos appears more favorable.
