A new report reveals extensive damage to the building after a fire occurred on Sunday.

The Harlem Nights Resort project, located in the historic west side of Las Vegas, has recently suffered from the impact of a fire. The site, previously home to the Tokyo Casino and New City Bar, caught fire on Sunday, as cited by the Las Vegas Fire Department, though it was not registered as a historic landmark. However, it has recently attracted interest from a developer named 'Harlem Nights.'

It was reported that a fire broke out at the former Tokyo Casino after 6:00 PM on Sunday. Firefighters were quickly dispatched to the corner of Jackson Street and F Street. By 8:00 PM that evening, the firefighters had successfully extinguished the major blaze. Unfortunately, the site has incurred significant damage. According to the Las Vegas Fire Department, the building is a 'total loss,' suggesting it may not be feasible for redevelopment, and the burned structure might need to be demolished.

Discussions about the proposed project are still ongoing. Lisa Mayo-Deriso, the project consultant for Harlem Nights, revealed that the company plans to demolish the existing building as per the proposed project. Initially featuring a 60-story high-rise, the project received notice that some taller structures from the Federal Aviation Administration might impact the area's aviation industry.

However, as Harlem Nights considers the demolition of the building, it aims to implement the plan with more dignity, taking into account its historical heritage. Speaking about the recent fire, Mayo-Deriso expressed disappointment over the irreversible loss caused by it. Additionally, she stated that Harlem Nights has requested a thorough investigation into the matter.

As of now, the Tokyo Casino Fire Department has not determined the cause of the fire at the former Tokyo Casino, and when more details can be disclosed is still uncertain. It remains unclear whether the fire was accidental or intentional.

Reportedly, a community discussion about the Harlem Nights project will take place next week. Mayo-Deriso introduced that the project is also scheduled for debate before the Las Vegas City Planning Commission on November 14, 2023.

Tensions between casino operators and employees have recently led to the establishment of highly consistent picket lines in other parts of Las Vegas. Meanwhile, negotiations between unions and casino operators have seen 'no real progress,' with workers protesting against the rise in the cost of living and inflation.

Is it because the time was too long, causing some electrical problems?
