A woman arrested in the November investigation at Macau's Sun City has been suspended from her position and sentenced to nine months in prison for refusing to cooperate with authorities. The Macau Judicial Police stated in a Monday release that the woman, surnamed Ho, declined to answer questions during the interview. Despite being informed of her rights and obligations by police and prosecutors' representatives, she chose not to testify. Under Macau law, refusal to testify without justifiable reason can lead to a maximum sentence of three years in prison. According to Macau Business Daily, the woman was one of the 11 individuals detained on November 27, including Sun City Chairman and CEO Chau Cheok Wa. They were detained on suspicion of involvement in illegal gambling exploitation and money laundering. If convicted, the 11 suspects could face a maximum of 12 years in prison.
