Test Cricket tests the character, resilience, and temperament of all the cricketers involved in the match. The dedication and persistence to sustain 5 days is a tough ask. Hence, it is considered a tougher format than ODI.

ODI cricket just takes 100 overs in all and players have ample time to reassess and analyze the game in between and a result is guaranteed. While in test matches, the format requires to sustain 5 days and teams can choose to save a match with resilience and dedication. This is the main difference and hence Test cricket is tougher.

Test cricket requires ample mental strength and patience for cricketers to hold the innings into their team's favor. The result may not be known till the final day and teams should survive 450 overs for a result (altjough matches might end early). In ODIs, the results are instantaneous and far more aggressive in approach than tests.
