Every fielding position in the game of Cricket is set with a logic as per the fielding captain and the bowler. This is to ensure and trick the batsman to minimize the run flow and eventually take the wicket. However, what are some of the least useful fielding positions in cricket?

Fielder straight behind the keeper in the boundary. This is called the Long Stop.
The position is virtually pointless. A batsman does not play a proper shot to hit the ball somehow straight over a keeper's head. Unless the bowler hits the deck hard on a bouncy track and the ball misses the keeper, the fielding position is completely pointless.

Long Stop is the one.
No team sets a fielder straight behind the keeper, where the likelihood of the ball going is extremely rare. Rather, teams would push a bit towards deep fine leg or deep third man region instead of keeping them straight behind the keeper.

I feel it is a Long Stop.
The least useful position in my opinion, simply because there is no way a proper cricketer would ever attempt to play any practical shot straight over the keeper’s head. A bit towards the deep fine leg is legitimate, but the long stop is the most useless.
