Which cricketers are underrated in one format and overrated in another?

Some cricketers may receive accurate evaluations in one format but less accurate ones in another.

Take Maxwell, for example; I believe he is underrated in ODIs, with stats worthy of a spot in the World Cup XI. In T20s, especially the IPL, despite occasional instability, he might be somewhat overhyped. Particularly in the recent years post his stint with RCB, he has become more consistent.

What are your thoughts on this? Are there other players who face similar situations? Feel free to share.

I believe Shahid Afridi was underrated as a Test player (at least his record was quite good). I don't know if he is now correctly rated as a limited-overs player, but during his limited-overs career, he was mostly somewhat overrated as a batter.

Here are my personal insights:
1. Jadeja is underrated in Test cricket but overrated in ODIs.
2. Shardul is underrated in Test cricket (with decent performances) but overrated in limited-overs formats.
3. Washington Sundar is underrated in Test cricket and overrated in limited-overs formats.

I think Andrew Symonds and Jason Gillespie are underrated (or, more accurately, under-discussed) in every format they played

Perhaps Chris Gayle is another underrated Test batsman because we all remember him as a T20 powerhouse. He has even scored triple centuries!!

I've always thought Daniel Vettori was a bit overrated as a test match bowler. However, he is indeed an excellent bowler in ODIs.

I feel Shane Watson is underrated in ODI and T20 cricket. He had high expectations in Test cricket that didn't quite materialize, so the public never truly appreciated how excellent he was in white-ball cricket.

I believe Ruturaj Gaikwad is underrated in ODIs and Tests, and Sanju is underrated in ODIs as well
