According to a proposal under discussion by the ruling coalition in Japan, Japanese companies holding digital assets would no longer be required to pay taxes on unrealized gains from cryptocurrencies to prevent the outflow of funds overseas. Under the proposed changes to tax laws, cryptocurrency held for purposes other than short-term trading would be exempt from corporate taxes based on market value assessment at the end of each fiscal year.
