Indian cricket fans received bittersweet news as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah returns home, missing the upcoming clash against Nepal on September 4. The reason for his absence is an incredibly joyous one – Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child. This exciting chapter in their lives will keep Bumrah away from the cricket field temporarily, but his return is eagerly awaited for the Super Four clash in the Asia Cup.

Bumrah's journey back to international cricket has been marked by challenges. He battled a back injury setback last September, which forced him to sit out the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia. Subsequently, he missed the tours of Bangladesh and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. His absence also left a void in his IPL franchise, the Mumbai Indians, during the 2023 season.

Despite these setbacks, Bumrah led the team as captain during the series against Ireland in Dublin, showcasing his commitment to the game. Meanwhile, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering changing the venue for the Super Four matches of the Asia Cup due to heavy rains in Colombo, adding another layer of uncertainty to the upcoming cricketing events in the region
