The 2022-23 Premier League season concluded on May 29th in the early hours. Manchester City secured a comeback victory in the final moments, successfully clinching the Premier League championship and achieving a remarkable three-peat. In terms of relegation, Everton miraculously escaped the drop zone, while Leeds United and Leicester City were unfortunate victims of relegation. Southampton also failed to avoid relegation, and these three teams will compete in the EFL Championship next season. Burnley, Sheffield United, and Luton Town secured promotion to the Premier League for the next season.
In the battle for European competition qualification, Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Brentford were among the three teams vying for seventh place. Due to Manchester City and Manchester United already securing Champions League qualification in the FA Cup final, the Europa League qualification from the FA Cup was deferred to the sixth-placed team in the Premier League, and the Europa Conference League qualification for the sixth-placed team was deferred to the seventh-placed team. In the end, Aston Villa edged out Tottenham by one point to claim the Europa Conference League spot.
