After a protracted wait, Sanju Samson finally achieved his first international century on Thursday in the ODI series decider in Paarl, smashing a brilliant hundred against South Africa. Samson showed patience and remained a steadying force on the field even after India lost captain KL Rahul (21) not long after he arrived at the crease with the team in trouble (45/1). Samson put up a solid 116-run partnership with Tilak Varma (52), and he eventually reached his century. En route to his 108 off 114 deliveries, he hit six fours and three sixes, helping India to a competitive score of 296/8 in fifty overs.
