Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, sustained a left hamstring injury during the second session of the first Test match against India in Centurion on Day 1. Following the injury, the 33-year-old was sent to the hospital for a scan, and Cricket South Africa released a statement stating that Bavuma will "undergo daily medical evaluations to determine" if he will play any further role in the match. Additional "medical evaluations" would be carried out to determine Bavuma's participation in the long-format game.
