December 28, Mark Cuban stated that the new shareholder of the Dallas Mavericks, Patrick Dumont, will have the "ultimate decision-making power" in handling the affairs of the Mavericks. However, Cuban mentioned that he will assume the role of basketball operations and the sole objective is to win basketball games.
In 2000, Cuban bought the Mavericks for $285 million. Over 20 years later, in 2023, Cuban sold the majority of his shares for $3.5 billion.
Following this development, ESPN reporters also confirmed the news, stating that the NBA Board of Governors has approved Cuban's sale of a portion of the team's shares, and the ownership change will be completed within this week. |
