Some say that the banned individual used his magic skills to divert the attention of dealers in many states, scamming thousands of dollars from casinos.
In the United States, each state has established a legal gambling exclusion list. Typically, such lists include the names of individuals convicted of gambling crimes or involved in other illegal activities. These sponsors are prohibited from entering casinos, and if they violate this ban, they may face legal action, as their names are added to the infamous "blacklist."
It's not surprising that a household in Las Vegas, Nevada, including names of customers, is excluded from casino gambling. The Nevada Gaming Commission held a meeting last Thursday and unanimously voted to add one person, expanding the list and increasing the total number of individuals excluded to 36.
According to media reports from the Mississippi River World Health Organization, the excluded individual is 36-year-old Sean Joseph Benward. His name has been placed on the state's blacklist due to allegations of defrauding casinos in different states, including Nevada. The committee earlier this year unanimously voted to nominate Benward for exclusion. Despite being informed that the committee planned to vote last Thursday, the 36-year-old did not appear.
Reportedly, Benward has convictions or arrests not only in Nevada but also in states like Iowa, Ohio, and New Jersey for cheating. He is also listed in exclusion lists in Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, prohibiting him from visiting casinos in those states.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Michael Soups of the Nevada Attorney General's Office explained that Benward was used to defraud casinos nationwide, securing thousands of dollars. It is said that the magician diverted attention by discussing with roulette gamblers. Later, Benward would place bets in the late stages of the game, attempting to persuade the dealer to place chips on the wrong number once the roulette ball landed. The magician would collaborate with a second person to confirm his false claims, ensuring the credibility of his story and putting pressure on the dealers.
Currently, it remains to be confirmed whether Benward is still in Nevada or any other states in the United States. However, on the highest wanted list in Lyon County, Iowa, there is a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, with the same name, surname, and age. This person is accused of failing to appear in court for ongoing criminal activities, including six counts of gambling fraud, five counts of money laundering, and two counts of conspiracy. According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, the same individual is wanted for similar charges in Mississippi, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and other states. |
