Litton Das, who was initially sidelined from the tournament due to illness, has made a triumphant return to the Bangladesh squad in Lahore, just in time for the crucial Asia Cup Super Fours. After receiving medical clearance, Litton rejoined his teammates on Monday evening, boosting the squad's strength.
The decision to include Litton Das was prompted by a series of injury concerns within the team. Najmul Hossain Shanto, despite his century against Afghanistan, had been grappling with hamstring issues during the match. Likewise, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, after scoring a century of his own, had to retire hurt due to finger cramps. Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman had also picked up a minor injury during the game against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on August 31, rendering him unavailable for the match against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh's chief selector, Minhajul Abedin, explained the rationale behind Litton's inclusion, stating, "The Asia Cup squad has been plagued by a number of injury concerns, and the team management deemed it necessary to introduce an additional player as we enter the Super Four stage. After receiving clearance from the BCB medical team regarding Litton's health, we have decided to send him to Pakistan."
Bangladesh's entry into the Super Four was secured following their impressive 89-run victory over Afghanistan in their last group match in Lahore on Sunday, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of their Asia Cup campaign.
