Exciting news for New Zealand Cricket enthusiasts as Kane Williamson, the team's skipper, has received official confirmation of his inclusion in the Kiwis' 15-member ICC Men's Cricket World Cup squad.

Williamson recently sustained a knee injury during his participation in the Indian Premier League. Nevertheless, his recovery has been remarkable, earning him a well-deserved spot in the World Cup squad, even though he may not be fully match-fit for the tournament's opening game.

Gary Stead, the head coach, praised Williamson's unwavering commitment to his rehabilitation, emphasizing the invaluable support provided by a dedicated team of experts throughout his recovery journey.
Stead expressed, "Kane's unwavering dedication to his rehabilitation, coupled with the exceptional support he has received from our team of experts, has been nothing short of remarkable. He has spared no effort in his quest to return to top-level cricket, and we are thrilled to have him back in contention."

He also added, "However, we've always emphasized the importance of patience and not rushing Kane back prematurely. We recognize that his long-term contribution to New Zealand cricket is paramount, and we are delighted that he shares this perspective."

Stead went on to clarify, "Our primary objective is to offer Kane every available opportunity to facilitate his recovery. The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup is a comprehensive tournament, and we will closely monitor his progress in the coming month leading up to our first match."

Currently, Williamson is training alongside the New Zealand team during their tour of England, although he is not officially part of the squad. As he continues his rehabilitation from knee surgery, Williamson remains hopeful that he will be able to make a significant impact for New Zealand right from the outset of the tournament.

Despite having played only 12 ODIs since the conclusion of the 2019 Cricket World Cup final, Williamson retains his status as a pivotal figure in the fifty-overs squad, boasting an outstanding record in the format. His presence promises to be a significant asset for New Zealand's World Cup campaign.

Kane Williamson will be included in New Zealand's 15-man ODI World Cup squad, after having reached a point in his recovery - from a ruptured ACL sustained in last season's IPL - that he admitted looked unlikely in the days after the injury.
