In a Test match in South Africa, Rohit Sharma's debut as captain of India did not go as planned. In the Centurion Test match, Kagiso Rabada dismissed the right-hander in both of the innings. He gets lots of boundaries in white-ball cricket, but in the first innings he lost control of the pull and was holed out for a fine leg. Rabada pitched around off stump in the second over, opening him up completely with a delivery that held its line. Nor did Rohit's leadership measure up to par. He did not rotate his strike bowlers well when Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur were going for runs, which allowed South Africa to escape with a high first innings total.
