The current rule favors the fielding sides by having the TV umpire check every aspect, including legal delivery, ultra edge, and perfectly caught behind the stumps, saving a review. The wicketkeepers frequently filed needless appeals, which forced the on-file umpires to reexamine the last ball's action. Occasionally, the TV umpire called the batsman out for a different reason than the one for which the appeal was filed. This lessened the possibility of a DRS (Decision Review System) on the side fielding the ball.
